From Sporty Childhood to Sports Journalism

Growing up in a sports-loving family, Emma’s passion for athletics was nurtured from an early age. Her grandfather, a competitive spirit himself, encouraged Emma and her siblings to participate in team sports, recognizing their potential to build confidence and promote health.

Emma’s natural curiosity and interest in people’s stories set the foundation for her journalism career. As she recalls, “My late Mum told me when I was a child that I’d make a good journalist because I was always asking people a million questions about their lives.” This innate inquisitiveness would later become the cornerstone of her professional success.

Breaking into Sports Media

Emma’s entry into sports journalism wasn’t planned but rather a result of seizing opportunities as they arose. After doing various stadium hosting gigs, she received an email about a presenting vacancy at Leeds United. Determined to land the role, Emma took the initiative, filming herself doing a mock interview and persistently following up until she secured a spot on the presenting team.

“That was six years ago, and it’s still the best job in the world,” Emma enthuses. Her role at LUTV marked a significant turning point, opening doors to television presenting and expanding her career horizons.

A Love Affair with Yorkshire

Having spent half her life in Yorkshire, Emma’s affection for the county runs deep. She marvels at the region’s natural beauty, saying, “There are few places as beautiful as Yorkshire. It is such a privilege to have rolling hills and greenery on our doorstep.”

Emma’s favorite Yorkshire destinations include The Chevin, which she describes as her “place of peace,” the charming town of Harrogate, the picturesque Ilkley, and the postcard-perfect Grassington. Each location holds a special place in her heart, offering unique experiences and breathtaking views.

The Dream Home Project

Emma’s latest adventure involves renovating her dream home, a property she had admired for years during local walks. “I always said it was my dream to live here. I didn’t believe it would actually happen, though,” she shares.

The renovation process has been extensive, with Emma tackling everything from a complete kitchen refit to replacing flooring, blinds, curtains, doors, and radiators. While challenging at times, especially in maintaining order during the renovations, Emma finds joy in the property’s unique features, particularly its original large windows and historic columns.

Looking ahead, Emma plans to complete her bathroom renovations, eagerly anticipating the addition of a rainforest shower and standalone bath.

Future Aspirations

As for her future, Emma maintains a content and grateful outlook. “I am very content with my work/life balance at the moment,” she says. Rather than focusing on rigid long-term plans, Emma prefers to savor her current situation, taking mental snapshots of her life to reflect on fondly in the future.

Emma’s journey from a sports-loving child to a successful sports presenter and homeowner in her beloved Yorkshire is a testament to her passion, perseverance, and positive outlook. As she continues to charm Leeds United fans and renovate her dream home, Emma Jones remains a shining example of living life to the fullest in the heart of Yorkshire.
