Liverpool-born Andrew Gower has impressed on the small screen and is now set to wow us on the musical stage, with a little Christmas football thrown into the mix.
A Diverse Talent
It’s quite the eclectic experience interviewing Andrew Gower. During the course of our chat, we flit from acting in some of the biggest shows on TV to his own band and even throw in some football chat too about Everton FC.
Musical Roots
At the time of writing, the Liverpool-born creative is excited as his band, Gustaffson, has just released the single “On Broadway,” taken from their new album coming out in early 2025. The band was formed in 2020 along with Andrew’s lifelong friend and guitarist, James Webster, and the music has been a long time in the making.
“Music was always around my house growing up,” Andrew smiles. “Whether it was my Grandad’s Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett collection, my Mum and Dad’s love for George Michael or my two older brothers introducing me to The Stone Roses, it was a noisy and musical house. The album that changed everything (which I found lying around the house) was The White Album by a little Liverpool band called The Beatles.”
From Music to Acting
Acting, however, soon took centre stage, with a key role in ITV’s Monroe, written by Pete Bowker, and starring James Nesbitt and Sarah Parish.
Notable TV Roles
Andrew has gone on to star in some of TV’s most acclaimed shows, including Black Mirror and Carnival Row. “Two incredible shows,” he nods. “At the helm showrunners at their very best: Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones of Black Mirror, Erik Oleson and Travis Beacham of Carnival Row.”
Upcoming Projects
Andrew will soon be seen on our screens in the new detective drama, Ellis, which was due to premiere at the end of October.
Gustaffson: A Musical Journey
“Having been lucky to work consistently as an actor since graduating from drama school 15 years ago, I’ve told some incredible stories on TV, film, and stage, led by some of the best storytellers and writers in the ‘industry’. Gustaffson gives me the opportunity to tell my own tales,” Andrew says.
On Broadway
Their latest single, “On Broadway,” portrays a vintage tale of the beautiful cruelty of a New York winter. The song journeys from the fires in Bushwick to the theatrical injustice of a Broadway show.
Christmas Plans and Football
“I will be visiting family in Liverpool,” Andrew says on his plans. “My Mum and Dad both live over the water in Wallasey/New Brighton, but we’ll no doubt all be in Liverpool city centre for dinner and drinks.”
Everton FC and a Special Release
“It’s a pivotal season for the club with it being our last season at Goodison Park,” he says. “Moving into our beautiful new stadium at Bramley-Moore Docks as a Premier League team is crucial. Coincidentally, Gustaffson is releasing a single with my beloved Everton football club to pay homage to the last season at the iconic Goodison Park.”
From acting to music and football, and bringing those passions together, Andrew Gower is all set for an exciting 2025. Expect the unexpected and just sit back and enjoy.
