Located in the beautiful village of Clavering, Essex, this bespoke shaker in-frame kitchen by The Essex Kitchen Design Company is a masterclass in blending traditional shaker furniture with modern luxury and architecture. As specialists in both Shaker and In-frame Shaker kitchens, Alex and the team bring a level of personal service, knowledge, attention to detail, and technical expertise that sets them apart in the Essex luxury kitchen landscape.

Director of Design, Alex Kraus, has been designing high-end bespoke shaker kitchens for 10 years and prides himself in providing their valued clients with a highly detailed technical knowledge of Shaker kitchens. This knowledge can then be translated into kitchen designs which are not only visually stunning but use the bespoke nature of the product to provide a unique design for every client, specifically tailored to their individual space and architecture.

Their Shaker kitchens are manufactured to the highest quality by their joinery partner who have been manufacturing bespoke shaker kitchens since 1864. This ensures the highest level of quality and traditional British joinery for kitchens which will last through generations.

One of the standout features of this Clavering kitchen is the bespoke walk-in pantry, which sits within a recessed area to the side of the kitchen area. This pantry is thoughtfully designed for maximum functionality and created to fit this space perfectly. A charming feature of the pantry is a custom-built ladder, crafted in solid walnut, and runs along a bespoke rail the full width of the pantry. “The ladder not only maximises vertical storage but adds personality to the space,” Alex explains.

The large island serves as the centrepiece and main focal point for this impactful design, offering both a functional workspace and a social hub for the kitchen. The recessed Bora hob sits flush with the worktop and the useful food prep sink is accompanied by a brushed brass Quooker boiling water tap to blend the aesthetic with the handles on this kitchen design.

To make the most of the available space, The Essex Kitchen Design Company incorporated floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, creating a seamless look that enhances the kitchen’s spaciousness. This tall cabinetry is equipped with internal dovetail walnut drawers, adjustable shelves, and pull-out larders, all illuminated with integrated lighting to ensure that every item is easily accessible.

Handles are a small detail that can completely change the look and feel of Shaker kitchen furniture. In this design, they chose brushed brass to add contrast and warmth to the design. The handles are “Knurled”, which provides a tactile material that aides grip when opening the oversized taller doors.
