Beat the Coronavirus 10pm curfew with these early bird restaurant deals
By Abbie Schofield
Forget late night dinners – it’s now all about the early evening. Due to the government’s new 10pm curfew for bars and restaurants, Londoners will no longer be able to dine and drink into the night. But that doesn’t mean you can’t eat out. From special early bird offers to new set menus, here are five London restaurants taking advantage of the new regulations.
Early bird deals: Where to eat before the 10pm curfew
Camino – Curfew Croquetas
From Thursday 1st October, King’s Cross tapas restaurant Camino will be offering extra treats to diners. Between 2.30-6.30pm every afternoon, those spending £15 or more on food and drink will receive a complimentary plate of tapas. The choices are jamón or salt cod croquetas, pan con tomate or jamón Serrano.
Peckham Cellars – The New Normal
Peckham Cellar’s new curfew set menu, The New Normal, is just £28 per person and includes three courses, plus a dessert or cheese course for an additional cost. The dishes change every fortnight, but sample mains include pig cheeks in cider with Calcannon mash, green beans, Dijon and hazelnuts. There are two sittings at 5.45pm and 8pm, and those booking for 5.45pm get a free cocktail on arrival.
Myrtle – 9 o’Clock Menu
Chelsea restaurant Myrtle’s new 9 o’Clock set menu is available Tuesday-Sunday and allows diners to experience a delicious meal in just one hour. Serving five courses for £45, each dish will be influenced by chef Anna Haugh’s Irish upbringing, such as oat-crusted hake with a Burren smoked salmon chowder. Guests will also receive a house-crafted teabag to take home and brew for breakfast the next morning.
The Prince – Morning Glory
A 10pm curfew simply means you have to start the fun earlier – that’s the thinking behind The Prince’s new Morning Glory deal. Early risers who book a slot at the giant covered pub garden between 11am and 11.45am can have an hour of bottomless cocktails for just £15. Drink as many Mimosas, Bloody Marys or Espresso Martinis as you can in your allocated hour while munching on street food from Wildcard, Utter Waffle and Jack’s Sprat.
Kricket – 20% off
Modern Indian restaurant Kricket’s early bird deal is a generous 20% discount on all food and soft drinks from 5-6pm Tuesday-Saturday. Available at all three of its London restaurants (Soho, Brixton, White City), the early bird deal will encourage diners to head out straight after work and make the most of their evening out.
Daffodil Mulligan – Beat the Curfew
Richard Corrigan’s Old Street restaurant has launched a Beat the Curfew set menu from 5-6.30pm from Tuesday-Saturday. For £20 per person, guests at the will be served three Irish-inspired courses selected by the chef depending on what’s available and fresh that day, as well as a cocktail.
Allegra – Happy Hour
Allegra at The Stratford has a new happy hour to coincide with the 10pm curfew. On Wednesday-Saturday the 7th floor restaurant will welcome guests to enjoy happy hour drinks at the bar from 4pm with a selection of snacks such as oysters and fried chicken. Dinner service will then start at 5pm with last sittings at 8.30pm.
