Rapper Professor Green and chef and food writer Gizzi Erksine may seem like an unlikely pair, but they’re actually besties who share a passion for food.
During lockdown, they eased boredom and helped fill the gap left by restaurant closures with an Instagram mini-series called Giz & Green’s Monday Night Fakeaway. Gizzi taught Prof. Green how to recreate his favourite takeaways at home, and the weekly series proved so popular that the two of them have decided to take Giz & Green offline.

On 17th July, Giz & Green will take over Shoreditch Italian restaurant Passo to serve their take on a deep-dish pizza, a meal that was a hit during the Instagram sessions. Toppings available include Hawaiian, Pepperoni and Veggie with a delicious stuffed crust, plus a special Tabasco Chicken BBQ pizza with Tabasco chipotle sauce.
Ingredients will be locally sourced where possible and the menu will be available for takeaway, delivery and dining in.
Professor Green said, “Learning to cook these ‘Fakeaway’ recipes was a Godsend and a real laugh during lockdown in Morocco. It’s been so cool seeing the amazing response and it feels great to be able give back, especially considering I grew up in East London. These pizzas are some of the best I’ve tried. London is flooded with the Naples style pizza, and we want to reset the benchmark for the old school 90s delivery pizza that we all grew up loving.”
Gizzi added,“The hospitality industry has taken a devastating hit through lockdown, and whilst the delivery sector has done its best to adapt, the supply chain is still really struggling. We are hoping to give an opportunity to local chefs and producers to get back to work. Stephen and I have been good friends for years, enjoy the same kind of food and cooking, and are really happy to finally be partnering up.”
