This summer, the stunning surrounds of Kew Gardens play host to not one but three sensational open-air productions by the internationally acclaimed Australian Shakespeare Company. Whether you’re after Shakespeare under the stars, a whimsical tea party in Wonderland, or fairy-filled fun for little adventurers, there’s something for everyone – and every ticket includes entry into the magnificent Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

FOR FAMILIES: Alice in Wonderland

From 19 July to 31 August, tumble down the rabbit hole and into the topsy-turvy world of Alice in Wonderland. This interactive theatrical experience bursts with colour, music, and nonsensical delight. Young audiences will love singing along with the Dodo and dashing after the White Rabbit, while grown-ups will revel in the wit and whimsy. With characters like the Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat, Tweedledum, Tweedledee and Humpty Dumpty popping up throughout, it’s a dizzying dash through Wonderland. Come and see what The Australian described as “marvellous entertainment for children and adults” – a perfect day out for families who love imaginative storytelling and outdoor adventure.

FOR THE LITTLE DREAMERS: The Dream Fairies – Adventure Through Bubble Land

Also running from 18 July to 31 August, The Dream Fairies invites children to dress up and join Tinkerbell and her fairy friends – Mustardseed, Moth, Cobweb and Peaseblossom – on a sparkling musical quest to find her lost wings. With songs, dancing, acrobatics and a magical trip to Bubble Land, this joyful show is a hit for ages 3 to 8. As the Herald Sun put it, “this captivating outdoor production will keep the whole family entertained” – it’s fairytastic fun.

FOR DRAMA LOVERS: Macbeth

As the sun sets and twilight filters through Kew’s historic trees, the stage is set for an unforgettable production of Macbeth. Starring Hugh Sexton and Nicole Nabout, and directed by Glenn Elston OAM, this gripping retelling of Shakespeare’s tragic masterpiece delivers power, poetry, and atmosphere. Described by Theatre Travels as “a triumph of creativity and atmosphere,” and by Arts Hub as “something special,” this is Shakespeare as you’ve never seen it before – raw, intimate, and unforgettable.
