So you’ve jumped out of an aeroplane and flung yourself off a bridge, what next? For those looking to try something completely unique on their next getaway, we’ve found five of fantastically bonkers new travel experiences to add to the bucket list.
UberCHOPPER
With so much to see, it’s no wonder that Dubai is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. There is no better way to fall in love with the city than from the sky, and now thanks to the rideshare company, Uber, aerial tours are available at the tap of a button. Helicopter tours can be booked for 12, 15 and 25-minute durations.
Visit Antarctica
Travel where few have been before and reach the seventh, most untouched continent, Antarctica. We promise you’ll feel like an early day explorer on this voyage across the Drake Passage. Upon arrival, marvel at the wildlife: watch the penguins slide into the glacial water below while sighting whales, leopard seals and snowy shearwaters. Make sure to pack warm clothing, we hear shops are few and far between on the icy continent.
Hike Milford Sound
For the active adventurer, New Zealand is a pot of gold. The crown jewel in outdoor adventure is the Milford Hiking Track. The 53-kilometre, four-day trail weaves its way through some of the country’s most beautiful scenery. Expect to see the highest waterfall in New Zealand, Sutherland Falls, dropping a massive 580m, as well as stunning panoramic views atop mountain passes of ancient glacier-carved valleys. As for the wildlife, you’ll hear the chirp of the national kiwi bird, as you trek through the forest.
Virgin Galactic
The sky is the limit for some intrepid travellers. Luckily, Richard Branson’s Virgin group has built a new generation of space vehicles to open space up for everyone. The spaceship made its maiden voyage to suborbital space last December. Safety testing is still being conducted but for the budding astronaut, it is predicted that bookings for blastoff will be available soon.
Explore the Great Barrier Reef
If exploring space isn’t of interest to you, maybe you’ll prefer exploring the deep blue in a private submarine for two. Wonder at the beauty of the world’s largest reef, without having to get wet. This tiny submarine may not be the most luxurious, but its small size allows it to swim between the fish, getting you up close and personal to sea life.
