The Westbury, Dublin delivers exceptional service and understated luxury in the heart of the city

The city

A short flight from London, it’s easy to see why Dublin is a popular city break destination. Convenient to get to, compact enough to explore by foot and rich in history, this gregarious city offers its visitors a wealth of attractions including churches, museums, a thriving restaurant scene and over 1,500 bars packed into its snug streets. Whether you’ve got a proclivity for a pint of the black stuff or not, a tour of the Guinness Storehouse is a must. This seven-storey journey begins at the bottom of the world’s biggest pint glass and ends with a perfectly-poured pint in the world-famous rooftop Gravity Bar. We also explore Phoenix Park – one of the world’s largest city parks – take a walk through the Temple Bar district to find great pubs and live music and take a sneak peek around Dublin Castle.

The hotel

If impeccable service and being really close to Dublin’s city centre are your top priorities when it comes to accommodation then The Westbury Hotel will be right up your street. Set between Trinity College and St. Stephen’s Green, this 5 star hotel was voted Number 1 Hotel in Ireland at the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2018. On the doorstep lies Grafton Street, revered for its colour, street artists and luxury shopping, while the vibrant network of streets filled with lively bars, restaurants and independent shops that is Dublin’s Creative Quarter, is just a short stroll away. The hotel is opulent without being too extravagant; a sense of ease and informality is brought about through stately hues of cream and light grey, wood pillars and swathes of light drawn in from wide bay windows. Rooms are expansive and fitted with a Nespresso coffee machine, Aromatherapy Associates toiletries, crisp linens, a duck down duvet and a widescreen TV.

The food

The Westbury’s gorgeous gallery – a Dublin institution in itself – serves one of the most decadent afternoon teas you’ll try in a long time. Breakfast is a sunny affair, served from the terrace at Wilde, an attractive space that fuses 1930’s elegance with an abundance of greenery. Come dinner time, Wilde puts traditional dining on its head with a menu that celebrates the finest Irish produce in an exceptional menu of traditional local dishes interspersed with plates from around the world.
