Meet Tessa Wheeler

Visitors can meet ‘Tessa Wheeler,’ a key figure in unearthing the Roman town of Verulamium. Tessa, who helped manage the dig and its budget, will talk about her archaeological work excavating the site in the 1930s. This is a wonderful way to bring history to life while finding out more about an important figure in the history of St Albans.

Family Fun at St Albans Museum + Gallery

There’s lots to keep little ones enthralled at St Albans Museum + Gallery. In “The Wonderful World of the Ladybird Book Artists,” visitors of any age can settle into a comfy seat to enjoy a book and design their own Ladybird Book cover celebrating historic St Albans. Get creative at the “Crafty Characters Make Your Own Toy” workshop, taking inspiration from the colourful and iconic Ladybird books in the museum’s exhibition. Flutter along to the “Make a Model Ladybird” workshop and create your own model ladybird or minibeast of your choice from colourful polymer clay.

Nick Mulvey will be returning to At Home Farm’s Woodland Stage in August. Known for famed tracks such as “Fever to the Form,” “Cucurucu,” and “Begin Again,” Nick’s music is medicine for the soul. Nick’s soundscape suits this magical woodland setting beautifully, with the outdoor setting feeling deeply connected to his boundary-pushing storytelling about humanity.

The Classic Motor Show

Location: Knebworth House

Whilst enjoying a visit to Knebworth House, Gardens, and Park over the August Bank Holiday, you can attend the Classic Motor Show at no additional charge. Set in the beautiful grounds of Knebworth Park with hundreds of classic and collectable vehicles taking part each day, there will be a static display as well as a show arena hosting parades. Vehicles include saloons, sports, American, commercial, military, and classic motorcycles. There will also be children’s entertainment, live music, hot food, and shopping stalls.

Hitchin Priory Summer Series

Location: Hitchin Priory

There are three days of memorable gigs to look forward to at the tail end of August, all part of the Hitchin Priory Summer Series. On 29 August, Busted takes the stage, followed by Dizzee Rascal on Friday, 30 August. With a banging lineup of special guests, including JME, Ms Dynamite, and Shy FX, you’d be ‘bonkers’ to miss this one. Then, on 31 August, chart-topping singer Craig David will be taking over Hitchin Priory with special guests Wes Nelson, Patrick Nazemi, and 24hr Garage Girls. Craig will be presenting his globally renowned party brand, TS5, and performing his biggest hits.

Classic Ibiza at Hatfield House

This is an open-air celebration of White Isle-inspired house music reinvented by a 32-piece orchestra, headline DJs, and live vocalists. Expect a feel-good atmosphere, with people of all ages enjoying iconic music in a stunning location. You don’t need to pay extra for access to premium flushing toilets, delicious food options, or space to spread out—that comes as standard.

Letchworth Open Exhibition

You still have the chance to be part of the biggest celebration of Hertfordshire’s creative talent at the Letchworth Open Exhibition. From Saturday, 14 September, to Saturday, 9 November 2024, the Broadway Gallery’s walls will be filled floor to ceiling with artworks created by our amazing creative community. The Letchworth Open Exhibition welcomes artists from all disciplines, including painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, applied arts, and digital.
