The Modern Contemporary (Moco) Museum, renowned for its vibrant and unapologetically pink celebration of contemporary art and culture, is a new permanent fixture opposite Marble Arch. Featured artists include Jean-Michel Basquiat, Yayoi Kusama, Andy Warhol, Banksy, Keith Haring, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Daniel Arsham, and KAWS, among many others.

Solar is a free-to-visit display that showcases innovative design research responding to the climate crisis. This thought-provoking display explores ideas surrounding the climate emergency, focusing on the theme of ‘solar’ and examining the role of design in our relationship with the sun’s heat and light.

Notting Hill Carnival
25 & 26 August, Notting Hill
Sound systems, steel pans, mas bands, soca, and calypso… Carnival returns to the streets of W11 with all its riotous energy. The Panorama steel band competition takes place on the Saturday before, as usual, and is a ticketed event in Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park. Love it or hate it, Carnival is still going strong 58 years after it first began.

An early pioneer of experimental cinema and installation art, McCall is known for his material film installations, where projected light is visibly enhanced using a thin mist to produce solid light forms. This exhibition brings together film, sculpture, and drawing, inviting visitors to interact with each of the four solid light works, offering an unforgettable immersive encounter.

Tavares Strachan

Whether making expeditions to the Arctic and sending back a 4.5-ton block of ice to his birthplace in the Bahamas, launching into orbit a gold sculpture of the first Black American in the US space program, or creating his own alternative 3,000-page encyclopedia, Strachan has worked to expand the boundaries of contemporary art with the imaginative verve of a true pioneer. This is the first mid-career survey of the New York-based Bahamian artist.
