From places to grab a brunch-time taco to the venue the Rolling Stones played their first ever gig, we’ve rounded up some of the most fabulous brunch spots in west London
By Charlotte Johnstone
Annie’s, Chiswick
Blooming with floral motifs and opulence, Annie’s award-winning menu is a favourite among Chiswickians. Attention to detail is made on every level. From the menus to the plumped-up cushions. It’s no wonder the place has been labelled as the best restaurant in the area. So for a brasserie-style brunch, ‘with an eggs Benedict big enough to keep an England rugby player happy’, it’s got to be Annie’s.
Jackson & Rye, Richmond
Bringing the USA to the UK one American-style pancake at a time. This New York-inspired restaurant is one a few taking London by storm. But Chiswick was the first original venue outside of central London. Brunch is served daily and offers all the classics. But also come here for truffled mac n cheese and smoked pulled pork hash with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce.
Charlotte’s Bistro, Chiswick
An independent cocktail bar and bistro in the heart of Chiswick. The menu emphasises locally-sourced good quality produce and they make as much as they can in-house, from bread and ice-cream to purees and cordials. We think the pain Perdu served with whipped mascarpone cream sounds delicious. Kick start your brunch date with a killer Bloody Mary, a two-month macerated mix perfected by the head bartender.
11 Coffee & Co., Ealing
Throwing open its doors in 2015, 11 Coffee & Co. proclaimed their love and passion for home cooking to the wanderers of Ealing. Now a staple in the neighbourhood for delicious breakfasts, brunch and cakes, they continue to proudly serve. Still going strong.
No 1 Duke Street, Richmond
An independent restaurant and bar with a relaxed atmosphere. No 1 Duke Street is known for its breakfast sourdough bruschetta with roast tomatoes, spinach, avocado and crispy bacon. If that doesn’t float your boat, how does ricotta pancakes with seasonal fruit sound? This place is very much an ‘any time, any day’ kind of place with gorgeous interiors.
One Kew Road, Richmond
One Kew Road is situated on a leafy Richmond suburb. Enjoy a Belgian waffle or smoked trout and scrambled egg in a place where the Rolling Stones played their first ever gig. For added fun try one of their Espresso Martinis or white peach Bellinis to really set your morning off.
Limeyard, Ealing
Tacos are not something you might consider brunch. But here at the Limeyard in Ealing this is brunch with a Californian twist. Menu offerings include soft corn tortillas with a range of toppings. If that’s not your thing, they also have a great selection of favourites including waffles and pancakes. All to a fabulous 1950s-style backdrop.
High Road Brasserie, Chiswick
An Art Deco-style European restaurant on the site of the historic Foubert’s Hotel. Its weekend brunch menu offers a good selection of choice including French toast with maple syrup, coconut yoghurt with chia seeds and mango, and crab and avocado. The front seating area is perfect for a boozy brunch and watching the world go by.
Comptoir Libanais, Kingston
Literally meaning ‘Lebanese counter’ this restaurant is the brainchild of Tony Kitous. He wanted to make good, wholesome, Lebanese food available to all. The result is a fresh take on brunch in a souk-like setting. Think Halloumi tortillas or granola with pomegranate and orange blossom water. As for the décor, ceramic tiles inspired by Tony’s Grandparents’ house set the scene. You can’t get more personal than that.
The Crucial Café, Chiswick
One for the smoothies. Located in The Hogarth Health Club near Chiswick High Road, Crucial Café offers a super healthy, organic, free range menu with everything sourced from local suppliers. Items include salads, cold-pressed juices, smoothies and snacks as well as pancakes and hot pots. This is a great idea for that post workout or weekend feel-good brunch.
