Our pick of the best venues for private and intimate dining in London….
By Helen Brown and Abbie Schofield
Forget crowded, noisy restaurants and take a pew at one of London’s private dining rooms for an intimate foodie experience. Whether it’s a special occasion or you’d like to take your social distancing to the next level, there are plenty of brilliant London restaurants that allow you to book your own room for a meal. We’ve rounded up a few of our favourites for a relaxed, private dining experience like no other.
The Columbia Hotel
Overlooking Kensington Gardens, this cosy west London hotel was once a favourite of Amy Winehouse and Oasis. You can hire one of their five private dining lounges (with private bathrooms attached) to feast on their seasonal private dining menu or snacking plates, accompanied by signature wines and cocktails.
Daphne’s
Daphne’s elegant Conservatory accommodates up to 40 guests in a richly decorated room adorned with a cosy fireplace, complimentary candles and place cards. Head chef Michael Brown’s bespoke Italian menus are based around seasonal ingredients.
Mama London
Quirky Hackney hotel and restaurant Mama London’s private dining room has a tongue-in-cheek design featuring Liberty prints, bright colours and vintage furniture. The menu is eclectic, and the fun, neighbourhood vibe is immaculate.
Balthazar
Covent Garden restaurant Balthazar has two private spaces, Le Petit (up to 24 guests) and Le Grand (up to 60). The French-style all-day brasserie specialises in fish and seafood and has a crustacea bar serving oysters, lobster and caviar.
Floral by Lima
The first Peruvian restaurant to win a Michelin star, Lima has a sister restaurant serving contemporary sharing plates. Floral by Lima’s private dining room can host between six and 12 guests and is full of comfort and character.
Scott’s
Scott’s is a cornerstone in fine dining. Serving traditional seafood dishes alongside a variety of expertly cooked game meats, the restaurant’s newly refurbished Private Room offers a luxurious setting for intimate dinners.
