A Journey to design the perfect bathroom

When designing a bathroom, whether it’s a cloakroom, en-suite or larger family space, the planning phase is critical and Geberit are here to help guide you through that process.

Consider what you want from the room and how you would like it to make you feel. This will help determine both the practical design and decoration decisions you make.

Space
Space is often at a premium in the bathroom, so consider incorporating smart storage solutions throughout to maximise that all-important space to store everyday essentials.

The Geberit Acanto range, for example, is just one of the ranges in the Geberit Aspire Collection, and has been designed with the user in mind following extensive research into what items are used on a daily basis, with each compartment and drawer created especially to house everything from toiletries and towels, to electricals and cleaning products. Say goodbye to over-crowded sinks.

Unique innovations, such as the wall-mounted magnetic board, maximise unused wall space, using niche storage trays and brackets, which can be attached precisely where the you would like them so that everything is within easy reach.

Wall-hung
Another key design-led solution is to consider wall-hung WCs and ceramics. These products not only look stylish, but utilise the latest in quick-to-fit, behind-the-wall technology, such as Geberit’s DuoFix frame, to create the illusion of a larger room, hide unsightly pipework and achieve an elegant ‘floating’ look.

Wall-hung furniture offers the additional benefit of making cleaning and maintenance easier – vital for reaching any germs or dust that might be gathering beneath fixtures out of sight.

Naturally, hygiene is also more important to homeowners than ever before. Consider coupling wall-hung WCs with a touchless flush plate, such as the Geberit Sigma80, which is activated by the simple wave of a hand to reduce surface contact and the spread of germs.

Decorate
As with all interiors, you should give your bathroom a personal stamp so that it feels like yours. Homeowners should experiment with a mix of contemporary and vintage styles and incorporate artwork and furnishings to help soften the hard surfaces and straight lines of bathroom spaces.

Biophillic design is an increasingly popular trend, encompassing everything from surfaces, air quality, ventilation, acoustics and lighting. To achieve the look, homeowners should consider opting for bathroom suites and ceramics in natural materials such as Geberit’s Citterio in Oak or Selnova Square S in light hickory, as opposed to bright white finishes.

Finishing touches like flush plates might often be overlooked, but many models are now available in natural finishes, like the Sigma50 in Black Walnut or Slate, to increase biophilic elements throughout. This will immediately add warmth and texture, creating the ambience of a luxurious retreat by reflecting the great outdoors at little additional cost.
