Alexa’s new M&S line is now live: discover all the looks plus our hero pieces

Drop everything: Alexa Chung, AKA the queen of off-beat British chic, has just dropped her second archive collection for M&S. After the overwhelming success of her first line – the Harry blouse sold out on day one – the presenter-turned fashion icon has delved back into the archives to offer her adoring public a new selection of retro-inspired looks.
The 27-piece collection draws inspiration from a range of decades: from ‘80s knitwear and ’30s-inspired dressing gowns, to ‘70s faux fur. In contrast to last year’s offering, the new line has a definitively luxe evening wear edge, and the trend-centric fabrics, including metallics and velvet, reflect M&S’s attempt to draw in a younger crowd. The collection doesn’t, however, neglect the longer-standing M&S customer, with Alexa’s nods to classic cuts and timeless wardrobe staples ensuring cross-generational appeal.Back in September Alexa debuted the Briggate PVC coat at London Fashion Week, nonchalantly worn with a white tee and straight leg jeans, bookmarking it for sellout success this November. We’ll be wearing ours with a monochrome mini, opaques and a fluffy cashmere knit for ‘60s-inspired cool.
If you found the Harry blouse a little full-on in the frills department, pick up the Lovell shirt, which offers a more paired-back approach to the pie crust trend. It will sit pretty when adorning the neckline of a classic crew neck knit, or for work try layering it under a summer shift dress. Just call it your AW16 layering staple.
