London’s offering of meat-free restaurants means you’re spoilt for choice this National Vegetarian Week

Words Helen Brown

National Vegetarian Week runs from 13th-19th May and is all about eating delicious, exciting veggie food for the week. Luckily, London does a grand job of catering to the meat-free masses. Going veggie has never been easier with a new generation of vegetarian and vegan restaurants in the city. Here’s where we’re eating this week.

Ethos Foods

This self-service vegetarian buffet covers the globe and lets you pay for food by weight. On any given day, the menu might take influence from Japan, Italy, Korea, India, Mexico and Lebanon. It ranges across breakfasts, light bites, canapes, hot and cold dishes. Be as restricted or indulgent as you like in building a bespoke plate. ethosfoods.com

Farmacy

Based in London’s Notting Hill, Farmacy enables clean indulgence. Menus support both vegan and vegetarian diets and are free from dairy, refined sugars and additives. The breakfast menu’s buckwheat ‘Rawnola’ is a must, as is the Farmacy burger from the dinner menu. It comprises a millet, mushroom and black bean burger accompanied by a vegan aioli and goji ketchup. farmacylondon.com

Wild Food Cafe

Thriving in a secret courtyard of Covent Garden, Wild Food Cafe is a must for those on the hunt for delicious and nutritious plant-based dishes. It offers raw-centric food that rooted with a colourful, global and eclectic edge. Flavours take inspiration from all four corners of the world and finished with a ‘wild’ twist. There is now also an Islington branch serving the same wild plates, nibbles and sides. wildfoodcafe.com

Redemption Bar

Redemption serves up delicious-yet-nutritious sugar-free, wheat-free vegan dishes and non-alcoholic cocktails. It was first established as a pop-up eatery and has since attracted a cult following. Redemption’s guilt-free cocktails are enough of a crowd-draw, but while you’re there you should go for a vegan dessert or three. They are good for you after all. Highlights include banoffee pie and key lime cheesecake.   redemptionbar.co.uk
