Where better to enjoy winter than at one of Europe’s most luxury alpine hotels? These are a few of our favourite new ski destinations this season

The Chedi Andermatt, Switzerland

The Chedi Andermatt, designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, balances tradition, luxury and nature, and boast sweeping views of the Alpine surroundings. Swiss chic meets Asian nuances with more fireplaces than bedrooms, wood panelling throughout and terraces allowing the indoor and outdoor spaces to blend seamlessly together.

With four outstanding restaurants and bars, including The Wine and Cigar Library and the newly Michelin-starred Japanese Restaurant, all tastes are catered for at the hotel. The Chedi Andermatt also houses a modern health club and exceptional spa and has a 35-metre indoor pool and a 12-metre outdoor pool, meaning guests are able to enjoy the panoramic Alpine scenery from the comfort of the hotel.

Andermatt itself is set to become one of Europe’s hottest new ski destinations, thanks to the opening of a brand new ski area, the SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun, ready for the winter 2018/19 season. The new area will be the largest and one of the most attractive ski areas in Central Switzerland. The overall project which will see the joining of the two ski resorts Andermatt and Sedrun into over 120 kilometres of pistes, including 14 chairlifts, snowmaking systems, new pistes, and five new restaurants.

Rooms start from CHF500 (approx £400) per night for a Deluxe Room on a B&B basis.

Grandes Alpes, Courchevel 1850

Ahead of the 2018/2019 season, Grandes Alpes, Courchevel 1850 has announced an exciting new partnership with Foil Skis, a luxury award-winning ski brand that have exclusively developed signature Grandes Alpes skis for guests to rent and ski on 14-karat gold.

Foil Skis have exclusively developed the Signature Grandes Alpes Foil Skis, available for guests to rent throughout the season. Founded by Andreas Pichler, an award-winning designer, artist and competitive alpine skier, the skis are of World Cup performance. Foil’s renowned Oro Nero Gold Skis will also be available for rent and for purchase at the hotel’s Ski Shop l’Atelier, allowing guests of Grandes Alpes, Courchevel 1850 with the opportunity to ski on their very own pair of dazzling gold skis.

Overlooking snow-capped peaks and pristine slopes, Grandes Alpes, Courchevel 1850 is a luxurious alpine hotel, offering a chalet-inspired experience alongside the conveniences of a five-star hotel; including ski-in, ski-out access, personal butler service and now the opportunity to rent the most coveted skis on the market.

The Signature Grandes Alpes Foil Skis will be available to rent on a daily rate of €950 (approximately. £850). The Oro Nero Gold Skis will be available to rent on a daily rate of €2750 (approximately £2,460). The Oro Nero Gold Skis will also be available for purchase at approximately €42,505 (£38,035).

Ultima Crans Montana, Switzerland

The Ultima Collection has recently announced the addition of two ultra-luxury chalets set to open in Crans-Montana in December 2018. Bridging the gap between the luxury hotel and real estate genre, founders Byron Baciocchi and Max-Hervé George, have built on the privatised chalet concept with the creation of two independent chalets that encapsulate the exceptional level of service, privacy and comfort synonymous with the Ultima brand.

The two new ultra-luxury chalets in Crans-Montana will offer a privileged gateway for ski-lovers who want to enjoy the surroundings of the Swiss mountains. Four Seasons Hotel Megève

Ideally situated in the midst of the Mont D’Arbois region of the French Alps, boasting the largest Spa in the Alps, the newly opened Four Seasons Hotel Megève is the hotel perfect for this 2018/2019 ski season. Megève’s fantastic pistes, coupled with the rejuvenating qualities of the treatments at the Spa, and beautiful food and beverage offerings make it the place to ski this winter.

Hard Rock Hotel Davos

In time for the 2018/2019 ski season, Hard Rock Hotel Davos has launched Rock Spa®, adding a unique music-themed approach to the wellness offering at this quirky hideaway in the serene Swiss Alps.
