October Fashion News: Trends for the Season

M.i.h Jeans x Bay Garnett

Bay Garnett, contributing fashion editor for British Vogue, has joined forces with M.i.h Jeans to explore their shared love of London style in the Golborne Road Project. Harking back to the ‘90s West London style scene, the eight-piece collection recalls Garnett’s time at Central Saint Martins. “It was a heady mix of irreverence and nostalgia; mixing vintage, denim and streetwear in a way that was accessible”, explains Garnett. Set to be the coolest fashion collab this season.

Lock & Co. Hatters

Thanks to Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri berets are big news for AW17. Forget affected Parisian clichés, the new way to wear it is strictly utilitarian. Make like Maria and pair with an oversized shacket or slouchy polo neck – military undertones are a must. If Dior’s leather iteration isn’t your thing then Lock & Co’s classic style will certainly hit the spot.

Dinosaur Designs

Dinosaur Designs’ handcrafted jewellery has caught our eye with its sculptural quality and unique use of resin. Founded in Sydney by Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy, the brand’s collection of statement-making earrings, necklaces and bangles will act as the perfect centre piece for any outfit.

Maggie Marilyn

Fun, fresh and very ‘now’. Maggie Marilyn is the up-and-coming New Zealand-based fashion designer creating clothes with a conscience. With an emphasis on ethical and environmentally-friendly production, Marilyn’s wearable creations are accented by the odd ruffle, ruched detailing or go-faster stripe, resulting in luxe staples that exude low-maintenance cool. Watch this face; £850.

We’re channeling our inner Mr Darcy this October with Dubarry’s Chamomile Shirt. The cheeky ruffle and prim and proper collar, plus the brand’s traditional roots, will ensure that you do AW17’s heritage trend the authentic way – no tokenism here. Balance out any prudish undertones by styling with a flash of patent: be it a daring mini, block-heeled ankle boot or high shine biker; £69.
