This year, London Design Festival is introducing an exciting collaboration between Mondrian London and Bompas & Parr. Prepare yourself for the launch of a one-off, late-night spa experience showcasing emerging design talent.
The fully curated spa evening at Mondrian London’s much-celebrated Spa Playground will push the boundaries between comfort, fear and disgust. Submerge yourself into a new interpretation of beauty and relaxation.
The selection of treatments are centred around bespoke spa-inspired design objects that have been specially produced by Lucy Hardcastle, Method Studio, Edible Stories and Lyon & Lyon. They aim to amplify feelings of discomfort as well as delve deeper into your alter ego.
For one night only, The Spa of Unconscious Desires will begin with a guided meditation session accompanied by a selection of food and drink – all created by the highly-regarded cocktail consultant, Ryan Chetiyawardana.
While cocooned in a whole-body wrap and submerged in total darkness, enjoy an immersive monologue by Lucy Hardcastle. The Shadow Wrap also features a muscle-melting scalp treatment.
Veil of Terra
Self-apply your mud mask using a textured mirror made of ‘melting metal’. While leaving the mask to work its magic, enjoy the steam room, shower and soak in the specially designed ‘dirt soap’. Veil of Terra blurs the lines between beauty and grotesque.
Shamanic Egg Healing
This group activity includes rituals developed by Mesoamerican shamans. Break the toxin-filled egg to symbolically crush the negativity out of your life. Most of all, this treatment is, without a doubt, the perfect stress-buster.
This massage is entirely unique. An individual seismic sound bath is made with volcanic rocks and a specially designed stone is placed over your ears. The grating of the material not only impacts on the senses and amplifies sound but creates an intense and claustrophobic world of sound.
Chromatic Nail Bar
Treat yourself to a manicure colour-matched to your mood as well as a cocktail to induce a heightened emotional state.
While resting and relaxing with three micro treatments, choose two beverages and a palate-matching dish. Pick the Poinsettia Daiquiri to trigger your fight or flight mechanism, a Millennial Pink for a tart and fresh taste or a Colour Changing Corpse Reviver for a truly unpredictable twist.
The Spa of Unconscious Desires experience is a continuation of the Bathhouse & Spa’s existing Spa Social programme – a form of health-minded socialising where you have exclusive after-hours access to the spa. Most of all, it has been inspired by creative spaces at museums and galleries, as well as creative start-ups. The Spa of Unconscious Desires is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Tuesday 19 September from 6.30pm-9pm at Bathhouse & Spa at Mondrian London. £80 per person; eventbrite.co.uk
