Got a spring wedding coming up? From chic city affairs to black tie ‘dos, we’ve got an outfit for you
Words Joy Montgomery
The spring wedding season is upon us and this can only mean one thing: it’s time to stock up on that miraculous breed of outfit that can carry us from church to dinner to dance floor.
When shopping for your look it’s important to think about both the venue and tone of the event. Will you be pounding the pavements of London or walking through fields in the English countryside? Are the engaged couple cool east Londoners or laid back bohemians? By addressing these aspects you can still choose something that works with your personal style, while still acknowledging the vibe.
To help you on your way we’ve created four looks for four different types of wedding. From pretty country florals to smart city suits – we’ve got it covered.
This show-stopping H&M embroidered gown was born to grace the great British countryside. Rivalling countless designer dopplegangers, the roomy silhouette will keep you cool while also allowing for plenty of shape-throwing later on. Simply pair with retro sunnies, bucket bag and block heeled sandals (no sinking into grass for us). Perfection.

CHIC CITY WEDDING
Being close to civilisation and away from muddy fields mean city weddings are generally easier to dress for. So what better excuse to try something a little different? We love Topshop’s millennial pink two-piece suit – fitted in all the right places to avoid any masculine connotations. Keep accessories to a minimum to avoid overkill. Christopher Kane’s gingham mini bag delivers just the right hit of print.

GLAMOROUS BLACK TIE AFFAIR
If you are one of the poor – ehem, we mean lucky – individuals to be invited to a black tie wedding then look no further than Reformation. Their selection of lust-worthy gowns are simple yet elegant (it’s best to leave the bells and whistles to the bride). AMP Monaco’s star-studded ear cuff offers an edge to this dusty blue number – all it needs is Hillier/Bartley’s bunny clutch for a touch of whimsy and you’re ready to go.

EXOTIC DESTINATION WEDDING
Soaring temperatures, variable terrain and alien transport systems are all things you will have to navigate at a destination ‘do. Mango’s sunflower yellow dress, which won the hearts of the fash pack this season, will serve you well. Light and airy, this statement look will be perfectly complemented by a pair of sculptural earrings and Prada’s chic whicker tote. Just don’t forget your sunnies.
