Allow the trained facial therapists and renowned skincare products of Aesop to work their magic with treatments to suit your need
Words Miriam Carey
Hidden away in an old Georgian house on King Street, Aesop Richmond is a sanctuary from the busy streets of London. The treatment room is in a lofty wooden attic, its soft palette and minimalist furnishing an antidote to busy chaotic streets. Aesop bottles lines the shelves, their aromas fill the air, lulling the mind and senses.
During a skin consultation, I discuss my skincare routine, concerns and history with my therapist Marc Mϋller to ensure the best treatment for my needs. He conducts a skin analysis before planning a treatment with specially tailored formulas. To calm and correct my stress, reactive skin liquorice and green tea are blended into my Aesop products. My skin is first purified with cream cleanser, followed by parsley seed cleansing oil and then a deeper exfoliant paste cleanser. Marc is careful to dilute the exfoliant paste so as not to aggravate my skin. He also forgoes steaming, a step done to open up the pores to aid decongestion. Three stages are all it takes to carefully rehydrate my skin. Step one is a hydrating chamomile face mask, step two, an oil massage, and step three, a camellia nut hydrating face cream.
The massage is exceptional; Marc glides oil across my face, head, neck, and shoulders, applying a thoughtful pressure in soothing rhythmic, cursive motions. The patterns of touch put me in a deep state of relaxation. This attention to detail is above and beyond what you would expect from a regular facial treatment.Following the facial, I take away an array of samples and a prescription for how to expertly tailor my skin routine to my benefit going forwards.60 minutes £80, 75 minutes £95; aesop.com
