Digital SEO Editor – Absolutely Magazines, Zest Media Group

Zest Media Group are looking for a Digital Editor to grow Absolutely Magazines website and social channels.  You will be responsible for creating an SEO-led strategy, in order to achieve KPIs for our fastest-growing brand.  Our readers are among the most affluent in the UK, and we need someone who will create content that appeals to this audience.

ZMG are a remote working company but have a shared office in Kent.  This role would be remote unless the candidate works in Kent and wishes to work in the office.

ZMG, formed in 2011, is a specialist independent agency working across print, digital and content.  We currently produce 19 print publications across the UK and Middle East, as well as owning 2 digital agencies.  This role would sit in the marketing team.

Job Summary:

The Digital Editor will oversee the creation, editing, and curation of digital content across various platforms of Absolutely Magazines channels, ensuring quality, consistency, and engagement. The role involves producing a variety of content types, including blog posts, articles, website copy, and social media updates, to attract and retain our target audience and support our digital marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Content & Planning: 

  • Develop Editorial Calendar: Plan and manage the digital content calendar, ensuring a consistent flow of content aligned with the brand’s goals and audience interests.
  • Editorial Strategy: Define and implement editorial strategies that enhance engagement, grow the audience, and meet traffic and conversion goals.
  • Writing and Editing: Write, edit, and proofread content for various digital platforms, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Content Development: Develop content that meets SEO best practices and engages readers, including long-form articles, short-form posts, and multimedia content.
  • Research Ability: Proficient in conducting thorough and accurate research. The ability to create topical clusters, pilar pages and topically related keyword clusters.

SEO and Online Visibility:

  • SEO Optimisation: Implement SEO strategies to improve organic search rankings and increase website traffic, including keyword research and on-page SEO techniques.
  • Analytics and Adjustments: Monitor content performance using analytics tools, and adjust strategies based on insights to improve engagement and conversion rates.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Make data-driven editorial decisions, refining content strategies based on insights and trends

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the editorial, marketing and design teams to align content with overall marketing goals and campaigns.
  • Brand Voice and Standards: Maintain a consistent brand voice and tone across all written materials, adapting style as necessary for different platforms and audiences.

Content Innovation:

  • Trends and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to suggest new content ideas and formats.
  • Engagement Strategies: Develop and execute strategies to engage the audience, including interactive content, polls, and user-generated content and community management.

 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. SEO qualifications also desired.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience in content writing for online platforms.

Skills:

  • SEO Knowledge: Strong understanding of SEO principles and content optimisation techniques.
  • Writing and Editing: Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Digital Literacy: Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), such as WordPress, and tools like Google Analytics and SEMRUSH.
  • Research Ability: Proficient in conducting thorough and accurate research.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
