Things to do this weekend in London
LONDON BRUNCH FESTIVAL
Avocado toast, waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon and more Mimosas than you can manage. London’s first festival devoted to our favourite pastime – brunch – is here. Here’s what you need to know.
BEAUTIFUL ALLOTMENT
With rumours of the sunshine sticking around a little bit longer this weekend in London, Beautiful Allotment has extended its summer pop-up for an extra week. A little pocket of English countryside in the heart of Hoxton, the drinking and dining hotspot will now be running until Saturday 1 September. While allotments naturally find their homes on wasteland, this one has taken up residence in the stunning Victorian gardens of the Geffrye Museum and features bookable day beds, handcrafted potting sheds, makeshift cocktail bars and raised BBQ areas.
GUINNESS EXTRA COLD WEEKENDER
Guinness is giving away free pints this weekend at the Jam Tree in Clapham to lucky Londoners looking to prolong summer. This Saturday 1 September, 100 chilled pints of the black stuff will be given away to the first 100 customers, alongside free merchandise and the chance to capture the moment in the Guinness Extra Cold photobooth.
REDFARM, COVENT GARDEN
Award-winning New York restaurant, RedFarm brings modern Chinese cuisine and supercharged dim-sum to Covent Garden. This is RedFarm’s first venue outside of New York and will deliver the same downtown vibes and famed creative menu that takes a clean, fresh approach to Chinese food. Expect clever dim sum creations and small plates, including the RedFarm Chicken Salad, Spicy Crispy Beef and Yuzu-Wasabi Shrimp. Mains include Grilled and Marinated Rib Steak and the famous Pac Man shrimp dumplings – a parade of colourful dumplings that look just like the iconic game.
MEATOPIA 2018
A three-day love affair with all things meat kicks off this weekend in London as Meatopia returns for a sixth knock-out year. Critically acclaimed chefs making their Meatopia debut this year include Jeremy Chan of Ikoyi, Neil Campbell of ROVI, Matt Young of Rok Shoreditch and Aaron Webster & Remi Williams of Smoke & Salt. Guiding these new faces through the thick, delicious smoke will be Meatopia veterans Yotam Ottolenghi, Nud Dudhia of Breddos Tacos, David Carter of Smokestak and Meatopia UK Founder Richard H Turner, all showcasing unique dishes never seen on their respective restaurant menus.
SAMPLE: AUTUMN
This weekend, London’s most vibrant urban market, SAMPLE: Autumn returns to Greenwich Peninsula. Free for all to attend, the pop-up market celebrates the best of London’s creatives in fashion, art and food and drink. Â
