This luxury French skincare brand is loved by Sofia Coppola, The Olsen Sisters and Brad Pitt among others, yet it’s still under-the-radar in the UK. Not for long…
Words Helen Brown
It’s official. We’ve fallen hook, line and sinker for a skincare line and we’re not even sorry.
Biologique Recherche is a luxury French brand that has been developing clinical skincare since 1976, but don’t be surprised if you’ve not heard of it before – it’s only sold in very carefully selected clinics, medi spas and beauty salons in the UK – with the addition of a recent concession in Liberty (hurrah!)
The highly concentrated formulas, based on active ingredients from botanical, marine and biological origin, coupled with the innovative treatment procedures implemented by its creators have allowed Biologique Recherche to achieve a reputation for astounding effectiveness. The Parisian brand has grown cult status in France and is currently available in more than 70 different countries, with appraisals from the press, beauty experts and celebrities such as Sofia Coppola, The Olsen Sisters and Brad Pitt, to name a few.
Despite this, it is not one of the many ever-popular French skincare brands so many beauty bloggers mention, and for good reason. These are cosmeceutical standard products – far more effective that your typical pharmacy skincare, and the results you can see from the products demonstrate this perfectly.
This leads us onto Crème Dermopurifiante – a decongesting and purifying treatment cream that’s a true miracle worker for acne-prone skin. The mattifying, rebalancing cream purges and cleanses your complexion from the inside out and has a veritable tick-list of amazing qualities including:
- Unblocking the hyperkeratinised hair shaft thanks to its micro-exfoliant active ingredients.
- Purifiying and cleaning the skin with antibacterial active ingredients.
- Alleviating redness.
- Regulating sebaceous secretions.
- Helping to tighten pores.
- Protecting the skin from external aggression.
- Hydrating the upper layers of the skin.
- Helping reduce shine on the face
- Softening blemishes on your face.
Perfect for a deep-cleanse, to reduce shine and treat congestion; it prevents the creation of blocked pores and inflammation, and leaves your complexion feeling unified.
After just a few weeks of using it I’ve found that redness is reduced, my pores are tighter and unblocked and my skin feels hydrated and softened. Particularly brilliant for hormonal breakouts, you need to use it for three months or more to see the full effects, and in the process of purging the skin, it can bring out spots (though thankfully that hasn’t happened with me yet) but the improvement in your complexion is well worth it.
The only downside? It has quite a strong smell, kind of like yeast, which takes some getting used to, and at £67 for 50ml it’s on the more expensive side for a product, but trust me – you get what you pay for. Plus, you only need the smallest amount, meaning a pot will last you several months.
To try it for yourself, buy online at biologiquerecherche.co.uk or pick one up at Liberty, EF Medispa, Aesthetics Lab, and Yvonne Martin.
