As London scorches, we’ve put together a list of the capital’s best frozen cocktails to help you beat the heat
Words Annabel Fuller
This summer, Londoners have experienced some of the warmest days on record, and so it comes as no surprise to see that frozen cocktails are the hottest (or coolest!) trend for bars this year. After frosé took the world by storm in 2018, bartenders are finding new ways to incorporate this frozen trend into their cocktail menus. These are some of the best.
Frosé, Heddon Street Kitchen
While frosé was so last year, Heddon Street Kitchen has added a twist to bring last summer’s favourite drink back and better than ever. Decking out their terrace in beautiful blush tones, the alfresco bar has transformed itself to an oasis of pastel pink, muted grey and greenery, perfect for an Insta-worthy summer drinks spot. The new cocktail menu is set to delight thirsty terrace visitors with Belsazar Frosé, available alongside Rosé & Tonic, a Summer Sun Spritz and London Bells cocktail.
Frozen Banana Ramos, Murder Inc.
Newly launched cocktail bar Murder Inc. on Hanway Street is the latest offering from the creative mixologists behind The Cocktail Trading Co. who have built a reputation for comedic creativity and innovation in their drinks presentations. The Frozen Banana Ramos is a refreshing frozen cocktail comprising Jagermeister, banana milk, coconut cream, egg white, citrus and stout.
Champagne Piña Colada, Coupette
Coupette’s award-winning Champagne Pina Colada created by bartender Chris Moore will certainly evoke thoughts of a warm sandy beach this summer. The velvety combination of Bacardi Heritage, Agricole, pineapple and coconut sorbet topped with Moet & Chandon has a gorgeously fizzy finish and is a lighter, more refreshing interpretation of this classic cocktail.
Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri, Heads + Tails
Guests can enjoy the Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri upstairs in Heads which is a trendy twist on the ever-loved classic. The light vanilla notes in the Havana rum are complemented by the sharpness of the lime and sweetness of sugar, making for a perfectly well-balanced drink.
Frozen G&T, Camino
Forget frosé, this year it’s all about the Frozen G&T. Camino Shoreditch has taken the summertime classic of gin and tonic and transformed it into this season’s hottest drink. The frosty blend combines Sipsmith gin, Mediterranean citrus, herbs and tonic with Pink Med Frozen G&T to create the perfect al fresco drink.
