Top New Year fitness tips for 2018
DON’T OVERDO IT
When you’re setting new fitness goals for the New Year, it’s easy to get carried away and overdo it which can lead to burn out and injury. Not ideal. Start little and often and then build it up if needed.
MIX IT UP
Make sure that you have a good range of cross-training in your plan. Sometimes it’s easy to stick to one type of workout but for long-term gains, we advise that you mix it up with cardio, strength training and yoga or Pilates. This will keep you interested and motivated.
ENJOY IT
Make sure you’re doing something you enjoy. The best workout for you is the one you turn up to!
SET REALISTIC GOALS
It’s better to smash a target than to set yourself up for failure. Be realistic with how much time and energy you can actually commit.
REMEMBER, RECOVERY IS IMPORTANT
Make sure you stretch out regularly, whether that means a yoga class, using a foam roller or a magnesium spray. All are great hacks to keep the body in good condition.
ENJOY A GOOD DIET
You can’t out-train a bad diet so make sure you’re fuelling your body with the right stuff. Instead of focusing on what you shouldn’t have, focus on all the great fresh food you can add to you’re diet. And if you really want the chocolate, have it!
SLEEP
Sleep is integral to a healthy body and mind. Making sure you catch enough zzz’s means you can train harder for longer. We find sleeping with your phone on aeroplane mode is a great hack.
REWARD YOURSELF
Reward yourself for staying on track with a massage or a glass of your favourite wine.
BUDDY UP
Getting your friends involved is a good way to stay motivated and you can double up workouts and hangouts. A Saturday morning Frame class followed by brunch is a win-win.
GET THE RIGHT KIT
Make sure you set yourself up with the right kit. There’s nothing worse than setting out for a run and ending up with blisters ten minutes in. Also if you love your leggings you’ll want to show them off in class more often.
